A photograph of a launching of a dory in Pictou Harbour a couple of years ago. The boat (25 feet), which I built, was called Point Rosie. The engine was a single cylinder, air-cooled diesel, as a make-and-break was not available at the time of construction. However, the sound was similar. The boat was equipped with oars and a sprit sail and a rudder which was not attached, due to the water depth. The propeller could be retracted up into a box by a shaft when necessary. The two men in the foreground, my brothers-in-law, Drs. Grandy, are originally from Garnish and currently reside in Nova Scotia. It provided a lot of enjoyable moments and interesting discussions with people who were familiar with this type of boat.   Submitted By: NULL
