It was eighteen years ago when "The World Came To Town" The World Trade Center collapsed, American airspace shut down Some flights were diverted to Gander, a town next door to us Stranded and perplexed passengers arrived at Gambo by school bus Not knowing where they were, or of the events taking place They were housed in halls and schools, or in some cozy family space They were anxious to find out what was going on back home Some were absorbed with CNN, while others engaged the telephone We did what comes naturally, our love and kindness came into play We received positive publicity from the show "Come From Away" At a time when hate and darkness eclipsed what's good and right We extended a narrow ray of hope, and a far-flung beacon of light But today as Memorial Services are held in honor of those who died The victims and the first responders, we remember them with pride As school children observe a moment of silence, things don't seem to gel For they were not around when the "Twin Towers" fell Eighteen year-old adults now enjoy their modern day rights and fads All some of them are left with is the legacy of their moms and dads But we must not let our guard down, terrorists can appear anywhere As they prey upon our way of life with their acts of violence and fear Charles Beckett   Submitted By: NULL
