Molasses Pie

1/2 cup cold water
1/4 cup flour
1 cup molasses
1 egg {slightly beaten}
2 tbsp butter
1 pie shell {baked}
Spice of choice {optional}

Whisk water with flour until smooth; stir into molasses in a small heavy saucepan. Stir in egg; cook over med.-low heat, stirring until thick, about 7 minutes. Stir in butter until melted. Pour into pie shell. Let cool.
