Malted Chocolate Cookies
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup butter-flavoured vegetable shortening
1 1/4 cups brown sugar
1/2 cup malted milk powder
2 tbsp chocolate syrup
1 tbsp vanilla extract
1 large egg
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1 cup milk chocolate chips
Preheat oven to 350ºF. Mix together flour, baking soda and salt; set aside. In a mixing bowl, combine shortening, brown sugar, malted milk powder, chocolate syrup and vanilla. Using an electric mixer, beat for 2 min., then add egg and beat until mixed. Gradually add the flour mixture to the creamed mixture, mixing well between additions. Stir in chocolate chips. Shape dough into 1-inch balls and place on cookie sheet, spacing them 2 inches apart. Bake for 10 min., or until golden brown.
