Clam Chowder

2 tbsp salt pork, diced
3 tbsp butter
2 tbsp onion, chopped
1 cup boiling water
2 cups potato cubes
1 tsp salt
dash of pepper
1 (10oz) can baby clams
2 1/2 cups scalded milk

2 1/2 cups scalded milk
Saute salt pork in butter until golden brown and crisp. Add onion; cook until golden. Then add water, potatoes, salt and pepper. Cover and boil for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add clams with liquid; heat. Add milk, season to taste.
