Chicken & Beef Stew

1/4 cup Heinz 57 steak sauce
2 chicken bouillon cubes (or 2 sachets Knorr Bovril instant chicken bouillon granules)
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
1 tsp sugar
1/2 cup hot water
1 - 1 1/2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
1 lb lean stewing beef, cut into bite-sized pieces
1 medium onion, chopped small
3 large potatoes, peeled and cubed small
2 medium carrots, peeled and very thinly sliced
1 (19 oz) can stewed tomatoes
1/4 cup all-purpose flour

1/4 cup all-purpose flour
Combine steak sauce, cubes (or granules), salt, pepper, sugar and hot water in slow cooker and stir well. Add remaining ingredients, except flour, and mix thoroughly. Cover and cook on low setting for 8-10 hours, or on high setting for 4-5 hours. About 1/2 hour before serving, make a smooth paste from flour and 1/2 cup of stew juices. Pour into slow cooker and stir well. Cover and cook on high setting for final 1/2 hour. Serves 6-8.
