Butterscotch Spice Cookies

1 cup butter, softened
1 1/2 cups brown sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
2 3/4 cups flour
1 1/2 tsp cream of tartar
1 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1/8 tsp cloves
For Rolling:
3 tbsp white sugar
2 tsp cinnamon
1 1/2 cups brown sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
2 3/4 cups flour
1 1/2 tsp cream of tartar
1 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1/8 tsp cloves
For Rolling:
3 tbsp white sugar
2 tsp cinnamon
Preheat oven to 350F. Cream butter and brown sugar. Add eggs and vanilla and mix well. Sift together the dry ingredients and add to the wet. Blend together well. In a small bowl, combine the white sugar and cinnamon. Form the batter into little balls and roll them in the sugar mixture. Place them on a parchment-lined pan and bake for 12-15 minutes. Yield: 2-3 dozen, depending on size.
