Beef and Vegetable Casserole

1 1/2- 2 lbs stewing beef
1 small turnip, diced
4-5 carrots, sliced
6-8 medium potatoes, diced
1 medium onion, chopped
1/2 tsp thyme
1 tsp basil
1 large can tomatoes
1 cup bread crumbs
Salt and pepper, to taste

Salt and pepper, to taste
Brown beef in frying pan. Combine all , except bread crumbs, in a medium-sized roasting pan. Top with bread crumbs. Bake at 350°F for 1 1/2 - 2 hours or until vegetables are cooked and meat is tender. Makes 4-5 servings.
