Bally Haly Turnips

The Evening Telegram was glad to report a very good crop of turnips at Mr Alexander King’s farm, Bally Haly, in November of 1895. Mr King worked a dray in the city by day and his farm in the early morning and in the evening. Perhaps this was pleasant news for the city, as it recovered from the Bank Crash of the previous year? Of course, in later years Bally Haly became a golf course and now is to become housing.
