To Christine
I heard some people laugh today
I thought about you far away
The smiles we shared, the times we had
Made me feel so very sad
Life in camp is not so great
The rooms are small, the food I hate
The smell from the plant in the air
Stings the nose but no one cares
Eleven, fourteen, twenty eight days in a row
How many more do I have to go
I need a day off to relax my brain
If I don't get one soon I don't think I'll stay sane
Always thinking of home, of family and friends
Wondering if this travelling will ever end
I don't want to be here while you're on the rock
I want to be with you for a face-to-face talk
To lay next to you is the way it should be
Me holding you, you holding me
I'll be back home as soon as I can
And we can go for a walk hand in hand
We'll go to the mall, or down to the shore
Places we've been many times before
We'll walk and talk for a little while
And when I leave again I'll remember your smile
I'll go back to work so we have a decent home
And in a few years I won't have to roam
I'll stay on the rock winter, summer and fall
And enjoy the company of my baby doll
