Our Home Of Newfoundland
This poem is about the beautiful Newfoundland I remember as a child growing up, the excitement that filled our time.
As a child, I went to the beach all the time,
Searching for shells by the sea,
I'll never forget the memories we made,
From the sights and all its beauty.
The greenery was seen far and wide,
The air smelled so clean and clear,
The crispness of the wide open forest,
As you watch the wild animals steer.
The frost would come soon, It's wintertime,
A time to race all on their skidoos,
No thought of the frost nipping your nose,
While others raced on their snowshoes.
In the evening, they'd gather in someone's home,
Newfie music could be heard far and away,
The toe stomping would go on through the night,
Some would be heard strong through the next day.
The stories they'd tell, from memories past,
were tales passed on from their parents before,
how much truth was there, we'll never know.
The family has gone, the house is no more,
Where we stood once, was really grand,
We'll always be proud to announce to the world,
We dearly miss, our home of Newfoundland.
