"As the waves crashed against the wharf I begn to reminsce of a time long ago. It was a time of hardships and struggle , yet worries were few for family and friends were what got you trough I remember the schoolhouse, which had only one room. It had a potbelly stove and an old dust broom We listened and learned throughout the whole day, and when the teacher was finished we thought of nothing but play. While Dad out loggin and Mom bakin' bread, my friends and I went skating on the bay instead. In the summer it was quite different since school was out, we played cowboys and indians and ran all about. As I got older I changed my ways, at the post office is where I spent most my days. Although times were changing I will never forget, the fued between Hampden and Bayside had yet to quit. The squid were plentiful, and rolled ashore, so squid jiggin' we went until the boat held no more. Yes, I remember a time long ago... Now families have split, and friends are far away. So we hope they return to a place by the bay. A place called Hampden, in which we all reunite, and full our celebrations with happiness and delight. Instead of the squid we now watch the whales blow, they definately stun us with their wonderful show. So back to the beach our parties will dwell, God only knows how much beer we'll sell.
