She was born Bethia Maud Blagdon on the 18th of August 1911 in Boxey, Fortune Bay, Newfoundland. When she was 19 years old she married my father William C. Stewart. 1944 was a very bad year in her life because in June of that year my Dad died of TB and in Oct her mother died. She was left with 6 children and very little support. The next 5 years were very difficult and that would be an understatement. In 1949 along came Joey Smallwood and Confederation with Family allowance and Widows allowance and our lives changed for the better. No wonder that to this day she worships Joey Smallwood. In 1958 with most of her family grown and out on their own she met and married Aaron Adams and moved to his home in Milton, Trinity Bay. By 1999 with my stepfather now deceased for a few years she decided to move to Halifax where most of her family had settled. Over the years she has enjoyed remarkably good health but a few years ago we convinced her to move to a seniors home. <br /> We are again planning another birthday party to celebrate her 106th. It will take place on the 18th Aug at Parkstone Senior's Home and the address is shown below. Her 6 children produced 31 grandchildren, 66 great grandchildren and 56 great, great, grandchildren. This would be about 148 descendants at last count. Being the youngest and only survivor of a large family she has many relatives throughout Newfoundland and I&acirc;��m sure they have spread far and wide. We are hoping to see some of you at her party or possibly hear from you. Some years ago I gave her a subscription to the Downhome as a present and it was a real winner. It&acirc;��s a treasure that she looks forward to receiving every month. I am sure that by now she must be the oldest person subscribing to your magazine. <br /> She loves to get cards and letters.
