We just wanted to thank the Downhome Magazine and the old Downhomer for giving our dad, Lynn Chaulk from Carmanville, a little bit of Newfoundland back these last several years of his life. Several years ago he subscribed and has read the magazine from cover to cover every month since. Your founding editor Ron Young, used to drop around the Rexdale, ON., house, back when he was "on the Boulevard." Dad moved to Port Perry, ON., a few years ago and enjoyed the small town life, near the water - even though it was only Lake Scugog and a long way from the salt-water. When he took ill a few weeks ago, he didn't want the March issue of the magazine at the hospital to read, in case it got lost. In the end he never read it, so we placed it with him to read when he gets to where he's going next! We've tidied up the books in the many bookcases and will treasure all those about Newfoundland for many years to come.
