My sister, Caroline Carbone, recently had a letter to the editor published regarding the Horwood Lumber company cedar chest given to my mother Kay Small (Mary Catherine French) from my father Fred Small. Unfortunately, my sweet, loving 92 year old mother died (October 25, 2014) before the letter was published; she would have been thrilled to see it in the magazine she enjoyed so much. I was honoured to inherit the treasured cedar chest my mother cherished so dearly. I live in Victoria, BC and had the cedar chest shipped out to the west coast where the legacy of the Horwood Lumber company will continue to live on. This chest has travelled from one coast to the other with a 70-year stopover in London, Ontario.
