35th Annual Newfie Picnic in Maine
Another great Newfie Picnic was held in Lisbon, Maine on July 26 at the home of Steve and Daphne Izer."It is like a mini visit to Newfoundland" as described by Anne Griffith, formerly of Merasheen Island, now living in Masachusetts. This event has become more special and bigger with each passing year.We really show our appreciation for our heritage with great Newfoundland food, mummering, a Screech In and having a scuff with Newfoundland songs by the Squid Jiggers band.Newfoundland flags were proudly displayed Newfoundlanders came from several states and Newfoundland, NS and NB.Friends met who knew each other in Argentia and had not seen each other in 44 years. Many newcomers quickly made friends and are already planning on meeting again next year.Tentatively the date of next year's "time" will be July 18.FMI contact Daphne Izer at dizer@roadrunner.com (Picture attached is of past & present Honorary Newfoundlanders) Submitted By: Daphne Izer
