Remembering the Hindenburg
Re the article in the September issue of Downhome: We were staying with my grandparents during that summer of 1936. Grandfather Power went into the house when he saw the Hindenburg over Jerseyside, Placentia. She came across Mount Pleasant over the water, beach and the spruce trees across the dirt road, and then descended over the yard between the chicken coop/shed and the house. She was stationary, about 40 feet up. I could see the pilot looking down. I believe she was charting the coastline and spying. After a while she climbed higher and proceeded toward Freshwater and Argentia area before disappearing from sight. Submitted By: NULL
