My grandfather, Thomas Rhymes, was born in Burgeo, and from my family's understanding, his grandfather was Esau Rhymes, and supposedly a captain on the Eagle. Esau was born 1806 and married Anne Saunders Sept. 23, 1847. They had seven children: Eliza Jane, 1860 - died 1933, married a Lambert Clothier; Emma, 1861, died 1881; Sarah Marie, 1868, died 1885; Marie Selina, 1864, death unknown - married Francis Edoire, 1887; Martha Jane, 1856, died unknown; Elizabeth Anne, 1881, died 1883; and John - no birth or death. I am aware this was quite some time ago, but would love to seek any info. We would like to know if Esau was from England (where) or born in Newfoundland. Any info. would be much appreciated to complete my genealogy.   Submitted By: NULL
