Not every day does someone receive a phone call telling them they have been selected for a prominent award. In fact, most people never expect it to happen in their lifetime. But a couple of months ago it happened to Bev Green from Shoal Harbour, NL. Bev picked up her phone one day and the man on the phone said he was calling from the Stanford Whos Who Organization and he said, "I am pleased to inform you that you have been recognized amongst thousands of your peers to receive The Stanford Whos Who Award of Excellence for your Professionalism & Dedication to your work with volunteerism and more specifically, your work with the Parkland Chronic Pain Planning Group. Congratulations Mrs. Green." Needless to say I almost fell to the floor as he went on to tell me more about the award and all that I would be receiving down the road. I never in a million years expected such a thing to happen to me. I have been volunteering now with various organizations for almost 25 years and I do it because I have a love for doing that kind of work. I have always been committed to helping marginalized society, and as long as I am able to do it I always will. I don't do it for any awards or recognition, I do it just to help people because I can.   Submitted By: Bev Green
