My grandmother June Gushue (nee Clarke) was adopted in 1928 by Andrew Grant Clarke and Eliza Clarke (nee Rose). My grandmother married a Thomas Gushue from Brigus Junction, NL and had a son Maxwell Gushue who is my father. Just after my father was born, my grandmother took my father and left Thomas and they moved to St. Johns, NL. After a year or so, my father had to be put into a foster home because my grandmother was dying and she could not take care of him anymore. My father was five. For a while, my father moved around to different fostor homes until my grandfather Thomas remarried a woman named Blanche and they took him back in. My father grew up not knowing anything about his mother, where she came from, why she left his father and how she died or even her real name. The picture that goes along with this message is the only picture that my father has of his mother. It was taken in the 1950s - that is all that we know about it. A few years ago, someone had put a notice in the Evening Telegram looking for any information or living relatives of Eliza Rose Clarke, but my grandmother on my mother's side had misplaced the notice and we have not been able to find it since.
