I enjoyed your article on “How to host a summer pig roast.” You were right, our Labor Day pig roast was the highlight of our summer. However, we decided to take a more innovative approach to the roasting of our pig. Our homemade spit was built from a 200 gallon oil drum mounted on an old boat trailer. The grills were custom made to hold the charcoal briquettes and the rotisserie was designed to be manually rotated with tender loving care. Although a few early morning flare ups added to the pigs charcoal appearance, the meat was none the worst for the flair.
