When I travelled to NY, the two things I wanted to see were the Empire State Building (my grandparents had visited there in 1967 at the Worlds Fair) and Ground Zero. It was the most serene thing I have ever witnessed...hundreds of people but almost complete silence. I went with friends and one of them had lost their best friend in the towers. Seeing all the names and next to some, there was written "and unborn child " made me so sad and angry at the same time for such a terrible loss. Being a Newfoundlander and living in a safe place means so much when you visit this kind a place. I took the Downhomer with me to remind me how lucky I was to come from a province that was not only beautiful but one of the safest places on earth to live in my opinion.   Submitted By: Heather Osmond
