American Coot Visits Rushy Pond in Grand Falls-Windsor, N.L.
My last few visits to Rushy Pond here in Grand Falls-Windsor I noticed a unique visitor to the pond, it was a young American Coot. I haven't seen one of these since May of 2008 at the local Corduroy Brook Wetlands here in town. The American Coot is a rare sight for Newfoundland, now the Eurasian Coot is what is seen in certain parts of this province. It was definately hard to get its picture cause it kept its distance from humans. I sat patiently in my car by the side of the bank and managed to catch a few pictures to share, here is one of them now. Enjoy! Submitted By: Colin Cramm
