What a morning! On a beautiful morning during the Recreational Cod Fishery in Trinity Bay, out in a 'secret location' using special landmarks as our guide, we had stopped to put our 2 handlines and one cod-rod down. A fish-finder proved to be a handy tool this morning, except my step-son thought that it was more fun to fish without one. Maybe he has his mind changed by now.

We weren't there long before we 'hit' on them. Half-decent sizes, I could taste the livers and britches in the frying pan. I was using a hand-line, as was my step-son. I hooked one on, could hardly budge it to bring it up, so I passed it over to a stronger co-fisher. He brought it to the surface - a 'mother' of a fish - absolutely huge! He went to pick it up by the gills, and LOST him! Then it was my step-son's turn to bring this beauty up, this one we managed to keep!!

I was so excited and just HAD to bring it 'down-along-shore' to show my then 91-year-old grandfather, who had spent many years on the water himself, and who I knew would be very happy for the morning's catch. He called it 'sizable'. I guess I was forgetting some of the Fall Fish he's managed to bring into the boat over his many years.
