The Jannies are out in Victoria, BC!
We have been in Victoria since 1963 & this Christmas we got the shock of our life. There was a very loud knock at the door & when we answered it we almost jumped out of our skin - thought it was robbers for the moment until they hollered “Any Jannies allowed in? Good enough boy, we knew then everything was ok. Indeed boys come on in! Well, they sang the mummer's song & danced their hearts out with the rubber boots on the wrong feet & all. After a few songs on the portable player by Ellis & Coles & Lloyd Snow they raised their veils & lo & behold it was our son Mark & his girlfriend Cherie (born & raised in Victoria). She is almost as Newfie as we are! Anyway what a time & good laugh we had. It made our whole Christmas that much more special this year. Just like home on Bell Island!
