Signs of Our Times I – Big Sign, Little Message
As Canadians, we sometimes have the impression that Americans do things in a big way. The was made evident this past June as my husband Graham and I were driving across the Northern States on our way home from the First Nation community of Summer Beaver, Ontario, where we are teaching, to our home in Trinity East, Newfoundland. On our way, we had to drive through several construction zones, and found the signs very interesting. They really reinforced our impression of Americans doing things in a big way. Compare the American sign with the one found in a Newfoundland construction zone. Our sign may be big, but the American message is huge.
