Phil in the Dominican Republic III: Felix Reunion
Taken in January 2006. Now before I explain the picture I want to give you a little history. Every time my boyfriend, Phil Felix (originally from Felix Cove, NL) & I go back home to Newfoundland, we run into so many people that Phil knows that it takes us forever to do anything. Going into a grocery store takes at least 1 1/2 hours and going into a department store takes longer. But everywhere we go Phil always runs into someone he knows. This past January we were vacationing in the Dominican Republic and Phil like his normal self was always looking around for someone he knew. I kept laughing at him trying to explain that of all the vacation hot spots down south that there was absolutely no chance that he would meet someone he knew; I didn't think it possible that of all the vacation destinations in the Dominican Republic, of all the resorts in the Punta Cana area, someone was going to book a vacation at the exact same resort as us. Well, was I wrong!! On the second morning as I was sitting on the patio having a coffee, I overheard a couple giving two women wrong information about the resort, so I interrupted to give the right information and spoke to all of them for a few minutes. Just after the two women left, Phil joined me and asked if the women I was talking to were Shirley and Patsy McCann. I explained that I didn't talk long enough to get their names, but the couple that were talking to them originally had confirmed that yes, their names were indeed Shirley and Patsy. Upon asking more questions, Phil discovered that yes, he had grown up with the sisters in Felix Cove, Newfoundland. I was so shocked, I couldn't believe that he actually knew them. So we spent some time with them during our vacation and we did a day trip together, which leads me to this picture. Patsy is on the left, Phil in the middle and Shirley on the right-hand side. This picture goes to show that you can take a person out of Newfoundland, but you can never take the Newfoundlander away from Newfoundland!! Submitted By: NULL
