Iceburg Quest

Two summers ago I spent about two weeks in Twillingate, NL with friends and my grandson who was visiting me from Alberta. We had a wonderful time but the most memorable one was the day we went out on a boat tour on the Iceburg Quest. It was just amazing. Two more tour boats were out as well showing the people their hospitality.

Finally we saw an iceburg which was just gigantic. Everyone was in awe. Then as we sat and enjoyed tea and lunch we were enterained by the wonderful images of the mighty sea. We say whales of all sorts; from the finback to the great humpback showing off and giving everyone their money's worth. Another boat was in close proximity to us and it was full of foreigners and they were estatic and jumping up and down and clapping their hands. So, I guess you could say I had two shows to watch.

Besides the Fish there were also gannets and puffins and other birds clinging to the mountain sides and living in colonies mating and enjoying the wonderous outdoors.

People were friendly and there was no shortage of places to visit including the lighthouse on the hill, restaurants, craft shops and museums. There was also a winery where Newfoundland wine is made.

The weather was amazing and it will always remain one of my favorite holidays. I would highly recommend this adventure to anyone looking for relaxation and quiet. This is Newfoundland at it's best.   Submitted By: Rochelle Dennis
