Partridgeberry Pudding

2 cups partridgeberries
1 cup sugar
2 cups flour
1 egg
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 cup butter
1 tsp baking powder
2/3 cup milk
For the Sauce
1 egg, well-beaten
1 tbsp cold water
1/2 cup butter
1 tsp vanilla or lemon flavoring
1 cup icing sugar
1 cup sugar
2 cups flour
1 egg
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 cup butter
1 tsp baking powder
2/3 cup milk
For the Sauce
1 egg, well-beaten
1 tbsp cold water
1/2 cup butter
1 tsp vanilla or lemon flavoring
1 cup icing sugar
To make the pudding, mix together berries, sugar, flour, egg, baking soda, butter and baking powder with 2/3 cup milk.
Grease bowl. Pour mixture into bowl. Seal with foil. Steam in large pot 2 to 2-1/2 hours.
To make the sauce, melt butter in top of double boiler. When hot slowly pour in the well beaten egg. Stir to prevent sticking.
Add icing sugar, water and flavouring. Keep hot and serve over cooked pudding.
