Pea Soup
1 pkg split peas
8 cups cold water
3 cups turnip diced
3 cups carrots diced
1 large onion chopped
1 tsp pepper
Dumplings:
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tbsp butter or vegetable oil

Add dumplings.
Dumplings:
Mix together flour, butter, and baking powder, add water to make soft dough. Drop by tablespoons in soup. Cover and bring to boil. DO NOT REMOVE LID. Reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes.
