Bread Pudding
Difficulty: easy
Prep Time: Ten Minutes
Total Time: More than 1 hour
8 slices bread, not fresh
1/2 cup raisins
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup finely chopped suet (fat)
1/2 tsp mixed spice
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp ginger
1 egg
Milk
1/2 cup raisins
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup finely chopped suet (fat)
1/2 tsp mixed spice
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp ginger
1 egg
Milk
Break bread into small pieces and soak in cold water for 15 minutes. Then squeeze as dry as possible. Put into a bowl and beat out lumps with a fork. Add raisins, sugar, suet, spices, and mix well. Add beaten egg and enough milk to enable the mixture to drop easily from a spoon. Pour into a well-greased bread pan and bake at 300°F for 50 minutes. When done, turn out onto a hot dish and dredge with sugar. Serve hot with custard.
