Explore the beauty of Mother Nature's amusement park
Part of Newfoundland and Labrador's charm is its natural, unspoiled beauty. Our rivers, ponds and bays provide us with fun fishing expeditions, while our vast wilderness is a hiker's dream. Even our long winters provide endless hours of fun spent sliding, snowmobiling, skating, snowshoeing and much more. Have a look through these outdoor activity shots, to see how our readers enjoy down-home living, outside.
Snappy Loves the Downhome Peanut Recipe Section
Snappy, our resident squirrel, keeps us entertained at our cabin on Hodgewater Pond. He looks for his daily treats everywhere; In our fingers, in our pockets, and even in our Downhome magazine. Snappy stands for "suddenly needing a peanut please, yes".

That question was answered very quickly, it stagged to its feet and after some engouragement from its mother nursed. It took only about 15 mintues for the mother to encourage it to follow her. Took a couple of pictures and layed it down and continued to fish around the pond shown in the picture. We wondered all the time if a predator would show up. While on the opposite side of the pond we noticed a caribou coming from over the far hills and headed straight to her baby. It suckled for a short time, then the mother coaxed it away. It disappared over the hill but was very unsteady on its legs. Brother and I gave each other a high 5, what a nice feeling. I wonder how it made out. ... Hide full submission
